Lab & Testing Facilities

State-of-the-art in-house testing laboratory supporting continuous product development, quality control, and compliance verification.

In-House Testing Laboratory

Located at our Sadat Free Zone manufacturing facility, GlassRock's in-house laboratory performs routine quality control testing on every production batch, as well as R&D testing for new product development. Our lab capabilities are aligned with ASTM, EN, and BS test methods, ensuring internationally recognised and reproducible results.
All testing is performed under ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System protocols, independently accredited by IAS — ensuring measurement traceability and result integrity.

Testing Capabilities

Thermal

Thermal Conductivity

K-value determination using guarded hot plate (ASTM C177) and heat flow meter (ASTM C518) methods across temperatures from ambient to 650°C+.
Fire

Fire Performance

Combustibility testing per ASTM E136 (vertical tube furnace at 750°C) and surface burning characteristics per ASTM E84 (flame spread and smoke development).
Acoustic

Sound Absorption

Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) measurement per ASTM C423 for blankets, boards, and pipe sections to confirm acoustic performance specifications.
Mechanical

Physical Properties

Density verification, dimensional accuracy, tensile and compressive strength, shot content analysis, and fibre diameter measurement on production samples.
Durability

Moisture & Corrosion

Water absorption, water vapour permeability, and corrosion testing to verify inorganic fibre resistance to moisture ingress and metal substrate compatibility.
Process

Production QC

Real-time process monitoring throughout the STM production line — fibre formation, binder application, curing, and cutting — ensuring batch-to-batch consistency.

STM Technology Platform

Production Technology

GlassRock's manufacturing is built on STM (Spinning Technology Manufacturing) — a precision fibre-forming process that controls fibre diameter, orientation, and density with high accuracy. This results in products with exceptional uniformity and predictable performance across all specifications. The STM platform enables production of both Glass Wool (from silica sand and recycled glass) and Stone Wool (from basalt rock and slag) on dedicated production lines, each optimised for the raw material and target product range.

Continuous Improvement

Our R&D team works alongside production to continuously improve product formulations, facing systems, and manufacturing parameters. This includes collaboration with international technical partners and participation in industry standards development bodies.
Annual production capacity: 30,000 MT Stone Wool | 20,000 MT Glass Wool — from our Sadat Free Zone, Egypt facility.
